Networking at the Vino TweetUp Tuesday

It was a sweltering hot night in downtown Sacramento. However, it did not stop Sacramento Twitter peeps from gathering together for great food and wine on the upper back patio of the L Street Lounge restaurant. For $15 anyone who heard of the Vino TweetUp and wanted the opportunity to mingle with like-minded social media individuals and local professionals were able to purchase a ticket using eventbrite.com courtesy of a Capcity Offices account. Capcity is a Sacramento co-working business that I had the pleasure to learn about at the Sac bar camp un-conference a few months ago.

Getting back to the festivities of the Vino TweetUp: The flatbread pizzas that the L Street Lounge provided looked and tasted amazing. I definitely recommend their
food. Three wineries hosted our event: Radee, James David, and Mas.
Each winery had their own special niche.

The shared tastes for good wine and social media made for a great networking opportunity that was fun and a little less stressful.

Among the professionals were social media club members, Sacramento 365, Capsity Offices, marketing professionals, Entrepreneurs, and recent college graduates looking to make job connections. Most everyone had a Twitter account, and if they didn't, the others proudly explained the benefits and software, such as Tweetdeck which makes Twitter and Facebook status updates from one application.

I successfully networked with about 8 people. A success!

My weekend at Sac Bar Camp

This weekend I helped set up and attended Sac Bar Camp, a conference for the technically-minded. It was a great networking opportunity for everyone and a way to share information about what is happening in our emerging Web 2.0 world. A great company called Webvanta seem to have a product I'm excited and curious to try out. We are in a new frontier, with new ways to advertise, new ways to do business on the web, and new ways to market---ourselves! Jared Hill, also a sacbarcamp attendee, has many great ideas on marketing oneself, see JaredHill.com or sacbarcamp.com for more information. Follow sacbarcamp on Twitter (http://Twitter.com/sacbarcamp)! Sac Bar Camp is currently run by Jenna Langer, a fellow graduating senior of New Media at Sacramento State.
